Goodnezz Healing Through Music

Although he and his family are still reeling from the shock of the tragic death of his son Donald Leroy “Smokey” Marson who was shot and killed in Toronto in 2021 Goodnezz (formerly Goodness) is determined to keep moving forward with his music career.

“I am not doing music for fame or fortune. You can ask anyone who knows me, and they will tell you that I have been singing for years. I even went to music school, but I never really took it up professionally until Smoky died. He’s the inspiration behind my music career, my son is the reason I am singing. The songs that I am singing right now were inspired by him and I want to use these songs to help make the world a better place. This is my therapy,” said the artiste.

The Toronto-based reggae singer who originally hails from the parish of Portland is currently promoting his single titled ‘Everday’ which was released earlier this year. The video for the song was released on November 24.

“I wrote this song to tell youths all over the world to stay away from violence and live a progressive lifestyle. Since we began promoting it, it has garnered a lot of support from DJs in various parts of the world including Canada, Jamaica, Africa, Europe, the US, and the UK. We need to make this world a better place so I’m just playing my part. I am just a messenger,” he said.

Goodnezz is gearing up to release a new single titled ‘Are You Ready Now’  which was Co-produced by Grammy Award-winning engineer Nigel Burrell and Carl Otway. This single is scheduled to be released before the end of the month on the Roialtee Production imprint.

“I’m looking forward to the release of my new single it’s a very good production. My vocal delivery, the musical accompaniment, the mixing, and the mastering is excellent. It also has a positive message that I am sure will resonate with people all over the world.”

He also revealed that he plans to stage a big charity concert in Jamaica next year.  “I’m going to put on a big give back concert in Jamaica next year. My team is working on this project right now and as soon as everything is finalized, we are going to make an announcement.”
