V Merchant’s “My Lady” Captures Hearts as he Expands His Cultural Legacy

Jamaican-born reggae singer V Merchant is creating major excitement in reggae circles with the release of his latest single, “My Lady,” a soulful lovers rock anthem that is quickly becoming a favourite among female reggae fans. The track has already made an impressive debut on the Canadian Top 20 Reggae Chart, signaling another milestone in the artist’s growing profile.

Produced and released independently through his VIP Level Records label, “My Lady” is now available on all major online music platforms. The single showcases V Merchant’s signature blend of roots reggae, lovers rock, culture reggae, and conscious music — a sound that has earned him recognition as one of the respected voices in Canada’s reggae movement.

Known for his powerful, soulful vocals and commanding stage presence, V Merchant continues to use music as a vehicle for storytelling, inspiration, and cultural connection. His songs explore themes of freedom, resilience, unity, love, struggle, and the search for dignity and belonging.

Born in Jamaica and shaped by life experiences in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth; Warsop, Trelawny; Withorn, Westmoreland; and Kingston, V Merchant carries the traditions and spirit of reggae music into every performance and recording. Over the years, he has built a reputation not only as an accomplished recording artist, but also as a producer, mentor, and cultural organizer dedicated to advancing reggae music in Canada.

A Canadian Reggae Award winner, V Merchant has expanded his influence through the development of VIP Level Records and the growing success of London Reggae Fest, a cultural festival celebrating reggae music, Caribbean heritage, community unity, and emerging talent. Through these platforms, he has helped create opportunities for Canadian reggae and dancehall artists while strengthening the presence of Caribbean culture within Canada’s music landscape.

His catalogue includes songs such as “We Will Rise,” “Brighter Day,” “Tribal War,” “Warzone,” and “Freedom,” all of which reflect his commitment to uplifting communities through music rooted in truth, culture, and lived experience.

V Merchant also recently contributed to a major cultural project tied to London, Ontario’s bicentennial celebrations with the anthem “This Is London,” produced through VIP Level Records and London Reggae Fest. The project united local, national, and international voices in celebration of the city’s diversity, culture, and 200-year history.

Beyond the stage and studio, V Merchant remains deeply involved in artist development and mentorship through Canada Reggae Rise, an initiative supporting emerging talent through performance opportunities, mentorship, media exposure, and cultural education.

Reflecting on his musical mission, V Merchant shared, “My music is born from the universal cry for freedom — the longing for acceptance, belonging, love, and justice. Through roots, culture reggae, and lovers rock, I tell stories of life’s struggles, victories, and the spirit that keeps people rising.”

With the growing success of “My Lady,” V Merchant continues to strengthen his reputation as both an influential reggae artist and a passionate advocate for cultural empowerment, unity, and positive change through music.
