Singer Dee, the Alberta, Canada-based reggae artiste, has achieved a major career milestone with his song ‘Treat Mama Good,’ a collaboration with veteran reggae singer Richie Spice, which has topped the Jamaica Music Countdown’s reggae chart.
The song, produced by Singer Dee’s Ten Toes Productions, secured the number one position last week in its 13th week on the chart, marking a significant achievement for the Portland-born artiste.
“This means a lot to me, especially with a song like this. To have a number one song in Jamaica with a tribute to my mom, is a honour,” said Singer Dee. “Dis a nuh corner league, a big international match!”
‘Treat Mama Good‘ is also gaining traction in Canada, where it is receiving heavy rotation on Reggae North Radio. The song is climbing the Canadian Top Reggae & Dancehall Chant chart, currently occupying the number 12 position after 10 weeks and continuing to rise.
The song holds special significance for Singer Dee, who was inspired to write it in honour of his mother, Rachel Bryan, who died earlier this year. The track was released in May, just days after her passing, making its chart success in Jamaica an especially emotional accomplishment for the artiste.
Singer Dee’s collaboration with Richie Spice came to fruition in 2025, years after veteran producer Bobby Digital suggested that the two artistes record a song together. Bobby Digital, who died in 2020, did not live to see the collaboration materialise. However, Singer Dee continues to reflect on the producer’s advice, which he received more than two decades ago.
“Working with such an experienced artiste was an incredible experience, and I learnt a lot from him (Richie Spice) both musically and professionally,” Singer Dee said.
A recording artiste since the 1990s, Singer Dee has built a catalogue of music that includes songs such as ‘Never Give Up’ and ‘Ten Toes.’
With ‘Treat Mama Good’ now at the top of Jamaica’s reggae chart and making steady progress in Canada, Singer Dee is celebrating a milestone that combines professional achievement with a deeply personal tribute to his late mother.
