‘Reggae A di Remedy’, a song by veteran singer Skatta Lopa, is scheduled for release on February 28th. Co-produced by Shengari Entertainment and Gapdon Production, it hears him expressing his love for organic reggae.
“The vibes is to always let the world know that reggae is alive and well and it’s ready to find its prominence back in the forefront of music. My style is reggae, rub-a-dub, lovers rock, R&B-reggae. That’s me,” Skatta Lopa explained.
‘Reggae A di Remedy’ is the first solo song leading up to his EP, which is scheduled for release in late 2025. Skatta Lopa plans to release another song from that mini set to help build momentum for the project.
He cut his teeth on the raw rub-a-dub sound while growing up in Whitehall Avenue, a working-class community in Kingston, Jamaica’s capital. It was also the stomping ground for hardcore acts like Red Dragon, Flourgon, Daddy Lizard, Sanchez and Buju Banton who put the area on the dancehall map during the 1980s and 1990s.
While Skatta Lopa began recording music in 1983, he developed his stage craft as lead singer for the Bloodfire Posse, with whom he recorded the hit song, ‘Can’t Stop Rocking’.
Based in North Carolina, he has been lead singer of Grammy-winning band Inner Circle for over 20 years. Skatta Lopa was also a member of the Ruff Kutt Band, which has backed numerous artists including Shabba Ranks.
