Nothing but Love from Timmy

‘Love & Unity’, the second solo album from singer Timmy Love, was released in early July. The 11-song set has reggae interpretations of Foreigner’s ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ and ‘Forever Young’ by Alphaville.

It comes five years after ‘Time of Your Life’, the Jamaican artist’s first album. A lot has happened artistically for the Connecticut-based Timmy Love since then.

“I have grown significantly since my last album. I am more mature and motivated about life and loving people for who they are and accepting them regardless of their beliefs, background, ethnicity, race, colour or creed,” he said.

To help promote ‘Love & Unity’, Timmy Love did four shows in Germany in May. Those gigs took place in Hannover, Dusseldorf, Paderborn and Dortmund and introduced him to an audience outside of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, his main market.

For many years, Timmy Love has performed and recorded five albums with the RefleXX Band. But in recent years, he has also done several solo singles including ‘Love & Unity’, a collaboration with Luciano; a cover of Toto’s ‘Africa’ and ‘Wake Up Everybody’, his take on the Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes classic, which is done with Big Mountain.

Timmy Love is from St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica. Raised on gospel music, he revisits those roots on ‘Overcomer’ and ‘Goodness of God’, which are also on ‘Love & Unity’.
