New ‘home’ for Sean Paul and Collie Buddz

Fourteen years ago, music producer Lion Face paired Sean Paul and Collie Budz on ‘On My Way Back Home’, for the popular ‘Lyfe Turn Riddim’ compilation album. Recently, he and fellow producer JonFX collaborated on a remix of the uptempo track which was released in September by Ineffable Records.

Lion Face says the arrangement with that California company has paid dividends.

“It was taken up by Ineffable Records and is being marketed worldwide with great reviews and streams,” he reported.

The ‘Lyfe Turn Riddim’ has songs by other high-profile acts such as Gyptian and Gappy Ranks, but when Lion Face decided it was time for ‘On My Way Back Home’ to get a new sound, he reached out to JonFX, whose production credits include songs by rapper XXXtentacion and Sizzla.

“I decided to do a remix, a new, updated sound. It is their (Sean Paul and Collie Buddz) first song together, so I thought I would give it a breath of fresh air in 2025. I collaborated with longtime friend JonFx and we cooked up the beat,” Lion Face disclosed.

The Trinidad-born Lion Face made his name on the New York City sound system scene during the 1980s and 1990s, before branching out as a producer. His ties to the sound system circuit introduced him to a pre-platinum Sean Paul, whom he booked for shows in the United States and Bermuda.

Collie Buddz was born in the US but raised in Bermuda. He is best known for the 2007 hit song, ‘Come Around’.
