Charlee: A Vocal Powerhouse Carving Her Own Musical Path

Charlee Loraine Harriott, known simply as Charlee, has been lighting up the music scene with her soulful voice and electrifying performances. A Jamaican Canadian singer-songwriter, Charlee’s musical journey began at the age of 10 when she won her elementary school’s talent competition. That early success ignited a passion that would guide her through years of dedication and artistic growth.

Determined to refine her craft, Charlee attended the prestigious Mayfield School of the Arts in Caledon, Ontario, where she honed her vocal abilities and immersed herself in the world of performing arts. Her commitment to music led her to participate in various emerging artist competitions, including the Jones & Jones Productions music contest at just 13 years old. Although she didn’t take home the top prize, reaching the final round caught the attention of a music producer, setting the stage for her development in the industry.

Charlee’s teenage years were filled with musical exploration, live performances, and artistic expression. She sang in musical groups, showcased her talents in school productions, and balanced her love for music with other creative pursuits like jazz and tap dance, alongside her passion for basketball and softball. These experiences helped shape her into the dynamic performer she is today.

Upon graduating high school, Charlee continued to expand her horizons, earning an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree from York University and later obtaining a degree in education at OISE, University of Toronto. But even with her academic achievements, music remained at the heart of her ambitions.

Her musical career took a significant turn when she became the lead vocalist for The Sweet Sensation Band, an all-female reggae group that captivated audiences in Toronto’s most vibrant musical neighborhoods. As the band’s main singer, Charlee had the incredible opportunity to perform at the iconic 9 Mile Music Festival in Jamaica, a reggae festival pioneered by Bob Marley’s mother, Cedella Marley. Performing in front of over 20,000 fans solidified her reputation as a powerhouse vocalist with a magnetic stage presence.

Charlee’s influences span across multiple genres, including R&B, 70s soul, 80s hip hop, and 90s reggae. Her ability to blend these styles allows her to deliver mesmerizing performances that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds. For over two decades, Charlee has worked with various bands, headlining corporate live music events, performing in restaurants, clubs, concerts, networking events, trade shows, and exhibitions. Whether delivering a high-energy set or a soulful acoustic performance, she adapts her sound to fit any musical setting seamlessly.

Now, Charlee is embarking on an exciting new chapter. She is currently working on a collection of original songs, an EP, and a full-length album. With the backing of City Soul’s management team, she is focused on growing her fanbase, expanding her online presence, and delving into music publishing, licensing, and distribution.

The next steps for Charlee include live performances alongside the Fulla Sound Band at the BSMT254 on March 29th and with City Heat Band at the Rusea’s Old Student Association Canada 37 Years of Service Gala on May 17. Beyond the stage, she plans to release fresh music, produce engaging visuals that showcase her unique fashion sense, and continue building her legacy as a celebrated artist.
