Two-time JUNO Award winner and 12-time JUNO nominee Blessed has made his return to the spotlight after a few months of social media silence. Blessed recently resurfaced on Facebook to announce his eagerly anticipated new single, ‘Do the Reggae,’ and share details of his upcoming performance at Unity Fest in Toronto.
In a message to his followers, Blessed acknowledged the often-overwhelming nature of Facebook and apologized for any missed birthdays, condolences, or congratulations during his absence. However, he emphasized his gratitude for the unwavering support from his fans and urged them to pre-save their copies of ‘Do the Reggae,’ emphasizing the importance of their support in his musical journey.
Originally from Seaforth Town in Saint Thomas, Jamaica, Blessed moved to Toronto, Ontario in the late 1980s to pursue his musical career. He made a name for himself by performing with the Redd Flames sound system, gradually establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the reggae scene.
While most of Blessed’s releases have been in the form of individual singles, he has also delighted his fans with a full-length album and several mixtapes throughout his career. His music resonates with listeners through tracks such as ‘Summer Gyal,’ ‘‘Black Man,’ ‘Rise and Shine,’ and ‘Reggae Time,’ to name just a few.
