‘Rastafari Call’ is the name of roots singer Autarchii’s latest song. Released on May 2 by his Red a Red Music Group, he co-produced it with Freddie Mintah out of the United Kingdom.
The track, which has a One Drop feel, is homage to the artist’s faith.
“The message behind ‘Rastafari Call’ is to highlight the simplicity of Rastafari culture that influenced many youths to find purpose in their African identity,” said Autarchii.
‘Rastafari Call’ is the follow-up to ‘Wake Up’, a song that seeks to empower dis-illusioned and wayward black youth. It was released six months after Autarchii performed at Dub Camp, a segment of the Reggae Jam Festival in Bersenbruck, Germany.
The song is expected to be part of his second album, titled ‘Red a Red Forever’, scheduled for release this year. His sole album, ‘Land of the Free’, came out in 2017, followed four years later by the EP, ‘Disrupting the Status Quo’.
Autarchii was weaned on roots-reggae music. His father, Donovan Joseph, is a singer who was part of the vibrant music scene in Greenwich Farm, a Kingston community where a number of Rastafarian artists such as Earl Zero, Johnny Clarke and Prince Alla lived.
‘Freedom In Africa’, ‘Blood Ago Run’ and ‘Black Beauty’ are some of Autarchii’s other songs.
