Conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Israel and Hamas, have dominated the news for some time. They are a reflection of global instability that has not gone un-noticed by Binghi Blaze.
The roots singer calls for peace in ‘People of The World’, his recently released song.
“Inspiration comes from seeing the chaos on a global scale and knowing that a simple thing such as love, and kindness could bring a different outcome. So that’s the recommendation we push forward,” said the Florida-based artist.
‘People of The World’ features veteran pianist Dennis “Jah D” Fearon, who has collaborated with Binghi Blaze on many of his songs. And jazz guitarist Eugene Grey, another seasoned session musician who has worked with big names such as Burning Spear.
Binghi Blaze said Grey’s jazzy licks brings an international feel to ‘People of The World’ but has “the Rastaman vibration sound which we strive to maintain in all the arrangements, being that is the true highlight of roots-reggae.”
Born Gary Williams, Binghi Blaze is from Manchester, a rural parish in central Jamaica that has produced roots stars like Garnet Silk and Tony Rebel. His introduction to music came in his family’s church where he played drums in the band.
As he grew older, his religious beliefs changed and he eventually became Binghi Blaze, with Rastafari and social issues being the focus of his music. He has released one album (‘Rastalution’) to date.
