Vybz Kartel Rings in 2025 with Spice at Freedom Street

Vybz Kartel rang in 2025 alongside fellow dancehall superstar Spice at his Freedom Street concert on Wednesday.

The entertainers were in the middle of their set when they paused to welcome the new year. The pair had already performed their hit single Conjugal Visit’ and Spice had begun to spew a few of her solo songs when the clock struck 12. In a show of true nationalism, the duo led the crowd into an a capella version of the national anthem before screams of ‘Happy New Year’ rang out throughout the National Stadium.

A fancy fireworks display quickly followed as Kartel performed his hit single Thank Yuh Jah’ much to the delight of tens of thousands of fans at the stadium.  Spice had the crowd in a frenzy when she began to spit lyrics to a saucy remix of Kartel’s single, ‘Comet’.

“Mi never tell unu the comet was coming,” she sang before spitting rhymes that had the crowd firing blanks into the early morning sky.

“Kartel come outta prison and a make more money dan artistes weh deh a road longer. How yuh fi compare Alkaline to the Worl’ Boss? Him a di student, Kartel a di teacher,” she said eliciting ear shattering screams from the hundreds gathered inside the venue.

Kartel associate Shawn Storm them performed a few of his hits before Spice returned to perform Romping Shop’ with the dancehall king.

“Da song yah change me life,” she declared before the two performed the spicy hit.

“Sidem, tun weh yuh face,” she continued as she gyrated on Kartel.

Lisa Hyper and Gaza Indu graced the stage prior to Spice.

Freedom Street is Kartel’s first concert in 13 years.
