The ‘Roots Rock Reggae Riddim’ is the latest project from Natures Way Entertainment. It has nine songs including by artists such as Anthony B, Fantan Mojah, Ginjah, Zamunda and Cathy Matete.
Garfield Cowan, founder and head of the South Florida-based company, went for a different feel on ‘Roots Rock Reggae Riddim’. It has a mid-tempo beat, a contrast to most of Natures Way Entertainment’s previous productions like the Sweet Personality.
“The Roots Rock Reggae Riddim represents a return to the foundation while still carrying the signature Natures Way sound. Unlike some of our previous productions that leaned into modern textures and crossover appeal, this riddim is more organic, raw, and spiritually grounded,” he explained. “It’s built to honor the essence of roots-reggae — heavy basslines, live-feel instrumentation, and space for lyrical depth—giving each artist room to deliver conscious, timeless messages.”
Zamunda and Fantan Mojah perform the title track, while ‘Like A Mirror’ is the title of Anthony B’s song. Ginjah does ‘Lover Not A Fighter’, with Cathy Matete from Kenya contributing the defiant ‘We Won’t Be Silenced’.
Iba Mahr, Heavyweight Rockaz and Turbulence are also featured on the ‘Roots Rock Reggae Riddim’. Drummer Wayne “Unga Barunga” Thompson and bass guitarist Jason “Welsh” Welsh of Heavyweight Rockaz, guitarist Lamont Savory and keyboardist Lamar “Riff Raff” Brown, played on the ‘riddim’.
Released in 2013, the ‘Sweet Personality’ is Cowan’s most successful venture. It produced two big hits in ‘Let me Love You Tonight’ and ‘Wake Up’ by Jah Cure.
