Brampton Hosts Reggae North Music Awards Again as Mayor Brown Welcomes the Return

Brampton is set to come alive with the contagious vibe of reggae and dancehall as the city prepares to host the second annual Reggae North Music Awards on September 28th, 2025, at the prestigious Rose Theatre.

Mayor Patrick Brown met with the event organizers at City Hall to officially welcome the celebration back to Brampton for the second year in a row.

“Our city is proud to be home to some of Canada’s leading Reggae and Dancehall artists. I’m honoured to welcome the second annual Reggae North Music Awards to the Rose Theatre. Join us on September 28 for an unforgettable night celebrating the best of Canada’s Reggae and Dancehall music—right here in Brampton,” says Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton.

Brampton has become a vibrant hub for reggae and dancehall talent in Canada, home to some of the country’s most acclaimed artists. JUNO Award-winning artists Kirk Diamond and Exco Levi, vocal powerhouses Tanya Mullings and Tony Anthony, as well as Zackious Cooper, Phenique, and the all-female reggae band Rayzalution, whose members are all Brampton natives.

Mark Bennett, President of the Reggae North Music Awards, expressed his excitement for the upcoming celebration.

“We are thrilled to return to Brampton, a city that has embraced reggae and dancehall as part of its cultural fabric. This event is about more than just music; it’s about unity, community, and showcasing the incredible Canadian talent that continues to make its mark on the world stage,” Bennett said.

The Reggae North Music Awards aims to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Canadian reggae and dancehall artists, songwriters, producers, and DJs. This year’s gala is expected to draw top talent and fans from across the nation, offering a night of unforgettable performances and well-deserved recognition.
