There is nothing more satisfying for most Jamaican artists than to hear their song in the dance. The feeling is akin to a million seller.
Ras Bogle is one of the acts who believe in beating the community pavement to break his songs. That’s what he has been doing with ‘Love Connection’, his latest single, which is produced by Raw Yard Records.
“When yuh song play in di dance is a big thing. From me growing up, dat’s where yuh know when a song going to take off,” said the Rastafarian artist.
Ras Bogle is from Olympic Gardens, a Kingston community with a strong sound system culture. The area has produced heavyweights like Admiral Bailey and U Roy’s Stur Gav sound system.
“Love Connection” has a pop feel, but Ras Bogle insists it is authentic Jamaican reggae. He says one way for older artists like himself to stay fresh, is stay in tune with contemporary sounds and “what di youth listening to.”
Ras Bogle made his recording debut while living in Philadelphia. ‘Stay Far’, his first song, was produced by Global Life Records which also distributed ‘Woman of The Year’, his most popular song to date.
