Novel-T Feels the Love

With her second album scheduled for release this summer, singer Novel-T has scored another number one song on the South Florida Reggae Chart. ‘I Love the Way’ is currently in its second straight week in pole position.

Produced by Hopeton Lindo, it is recorded on the ‘Favorite ‘Riddim’ which was released on Valentine’s Day in February. Having a number one song ahead of her first album is a big deal for Novel-T, a Jamaican who lives in South Florida.

“It certainly is an extra level of motivation for me to know that what I do resonates with music industry professionals, deejays and the listening audience. It helps to keep me charged-up each time a song of mine gets that level of recognition, and I would not be human if it didn’t boost my confidence and encourage me to keep going,” she said.

Six artists recorded songs on the uptempo Favorite beat including Lindo, Sanchez, Peter G, Anthony Malvo and INique.  Novel-T’s album will include six songs that topped the South Florida Reggae Chart. Her previous chart-topper was I Don’t Know Much, a cover of the popular, Grammy-winning ballad, which she sang with Lindo.

“My approach to every project is, I consider how I feel about the idea of the song initially. I spend time to develop a relationship with the song, i.e. the lyrics, melody, meaning etc., to see how it fits the nuances of my voice, and how I will treat each section of the song,” she explained. “I do this even if I wrote the song, as with I Love the Way. I’m generally not satisfied with any piece of work I’m doing until I get to that point where I literally fall in love with it. When I get that vibe, I know it’s ready.”
