Racial unity is the theme for ‘We Need More Love’, the latest song by singer Marcia J. Ball. It is co-produced by Ed Robinson and Dwight Oliver and was released on August 30.
Oliver also wrote ‘We Need More Love’ which carries a powerful message that appealed to the South Florida-based Ball.
“The inspiration came from observing the world around us and realizing how much more kindness and understanding we need in our daily lives. I wanted to create a song that would encourage people to come together, regardless of their differences, and spread love and positivity. It’s a message that I think resonates now more than ever,” she said.
‘We Need More Love’ also addresses the growing number of inter-racial marriages in contemporary society, relationships that were once frowned on. Ball, who was born in the United Kingdom to Jamaican parents, describes such bonds as “a beautiful testament to the fact that love can transcend cultural and racial differences.”
The song is different in tone to ‘This Man of Mine’, Ball’s previous song which is also written by Oliver. That single is about a woman in a one-sided relationship with an uncommitted lover.
Ball, who has been a recording artist for over three decades, has no problem doing songs with messages.
“Music has always been a powerful tool for communication and change, and I feel a strong responsibility to use my platform to share positive messages. I love creating songs that not only entertain but also inspire and provoke thought. It’s important to me that my music can make a difference in some way,” she said.
