Mayor Patrick Brown Welcomes the Reggae North Music Awards to Brampton

Mayor Patrick Brown of Brampton, renowned for its diverse population and strong cultural heritage, recently expressed his support for the inaugural staging of the Reggae North Music Awards in the city. Welcoming the Reggae North Music Awards committee, Mayor Brown underscored the significance of hosting such an event in Brampton, affectionately known as the “Flower City.”

With Brampton serving as the home for numerous distinguished reggae and dancehall luminaries, Mayor Brown’s endorsement aligns seamlessly with the city’s multicultural spirit. Notable figures such as JUNO award recipients Kirk Diamond and Exco Levi, esteemed vocalist Tanya Mullings, and artists like Zackious Cooper and Chelsea Stewart, all call Brampton home. Additionally, Rayzalution, Canada’s premier all-female reggae band, boasts members who were born and bred in Brampton, further cementing the city’s status as a cradle of reggae talent.

Scheduled for September 29th, 2024, at the expansive Rose Theatre, the Reggae North Music Awards promises to be a gala celebration of Canadian reggae and dancehall culture. Gathering artists, songwriters, producers, and radio DJs from across the country under one roof, the event is poised to showcase the vibrancy and diversity of these musical genres.
