Like so many people around the world Major Riley was in shock and horror when news broke that Peetah Morgan the lead singer of Grammy Award-winning reggae band Morgan Heritage died on February 25.
“I was so shocked when I heard the news that Peetah had passed away. I still can’t believe it’s true. I feel very heartbroken because he was one of my favorite singers,” said Riley.
The Trinidadian reggae/Soca singer says Peetah Morgan’s music has made a big impact on his life.
“Peetah Morgan has made a significant contribution to reggae music both as the lead singer for Morgan Heritage and as a solo artist. His songs will live on forever because they’re carry powerful messages. That man’s songs really inspired me in a big way. He’s irreplaceable, no one can sing like him. Every song he did was special because of his unique vocal style.”
Major Riley recently recorded a song in honor of Peetah Morgan titled ‘Fly High’. The song which was produced by him was released by Major Records March 26.
“I had the honor and pleasure of crossing paths with Peetah on several occasions when we performed at the same events. Although he was a star, he was always very humble and easy to talk with. I admired him so much for his tremendous talent and humility, which is why I have recorded this song to pay tribute him.”
Major Riley is currently working on his new album titled ‘Days of Circumstances’ which is slated to be released later this year.
