US-based songstress Magano is gearing up to celebrate the release of her seven-track EP ‘Blend & Mend Again’. This is produced by Lloyd “Thug Chemist” Roberts for Thug Chemist Musik.
According to Thug Chemist, “This EP will be released on all major digital platforms, no later than March 27, 2024.” He is also banking on Magano, dubbed New York chinaware, to come through with flying colours.
“She (Magano) is a living talent; experienced, professional, and people friendly. She has been performing in several countries alongside major reggae stars, including Freddie McGregor, Tony Rebel, and Gregory Isaacs.”
One of her biggest tracks is a remake of ‘Satta Massagana’ done by the Abyssinians. This Jamaican root reggae group, famous for their close harmonies and promotion of the Rastafari movement in their lyrics, made the song one of their biggest hits.
Although several artistes have done cover versions, Magano is the only female who has tried and gained success with that track.
“One could easily say Magano is history in her own rights. She has made the song her own because of her unique blend of reggae punchlines and her smooth harmonizing flavour. It is receiving heavy rotation on mainstream radio, especially in Europe,” Thug Chemist shares.
Apart from ‘Satta Massagana’, other tracks include ‘Strong Woman’, ‘Blend & Mend Again’, and ‘Block and Delete’. ‘Strong Woman’ is enhanced by a music video which is on all digital platforms.
According to Magano, “The song is giving women the strength to, not only be independent, but to believe they can achieve what appears to be impossible. The song has given me a lot of respect from even men who still believe men should be masters and leaders in society.” “This EP, which started in early 2023, will further expose my talent, versatility, and performance,” she adds.
Magano, given name Andrea Sawyers, was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, and attended Clarendon College where she began to expose her writing and performing skills. “I was involved in drama and even entered a modeling competition. Later I was an event planner which stood out as a major part of my achievements.”
Since migrating to New York, she has been a regular weekend performer in night clubs where she has become a household name.
