In a career spanning 45 years, Paul “Jah Screw” Love has worked with roots-reggae’s elite artists, including Barrington Levy, Earl Sixteen and Tony Tuff. His credentials impressed Lisa Simone who was looking for someone with a proven track record to produce her first reggae album.
Since early 2026, the South Florida-based singer and Jah Screw have collaborated on songs for that project which is earmarked for a 2027 release. She said there is no rush to get her third album out.
“We believe in taking our time so that when the music reaches the listeners, it represents the best of what we can offer,” said Lisa Simone.
She met Jah Screw through a mutual friend and was impressed by his credentials. He is best known for producing ‘Under mi Sensi’, ‘Here I Come’ and ‘Living Dangerously’ for Barrington Levy, as well as solid albums and songs by Earl Sixteen and Tony Tuff.
The upcoming album is different from Lisa Simone’s previous projects, which were gospel and Christmas-oriented. Those were produced by Damion Orlando, her husband.
Lisa Simone is from St. Thomas parish in eastern Jamaica. Her musical influences are diverse, from reggae giants Bob Marley and Dennis Brown to American gospel legend, Andre Crouch.
