The evening will be hosted by the charismatic MC Bonde, promising an electrifying atmosphere filled with positive vibes.

Born Jesse David Leroi Grey in St James Parish, Jamaica, to a family deeply rooted in maroon ancestry and Rastafarian faith, Jesse Royal’s musical journey began at a young age. Inspired by the rich heritage of reggae music and mentored by the late Fatis Burrell, Royal’s early releases garnered attention for their authenticity and heartfelt lyrics. His friendship with Daniel ‘Bambata’ Marley, son of reggae legend Ziggy Marley, further fueled his passion for music and cemented his place in the vibrant Jamaican music scene.

Royal’s breakout moment came with the release of his first major work, ‘Modern Day Judas,’ a single off his mixtape that quickly gained traction both locally and internationally. In 2015, Vogue Magazine recognized Royal as part of the “Reggae Revival” movement, alongside artists like Chronixx, Jah9, and Protoje, who were revitalizing the genre of roots reggae for a new generation.

In 2017, Royal released his debut album, ‘Lily of da Valley,’ which topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and solidified his position as a rising star in the global reggae scene. The album, produced by Llamar “Riff Raff” Brown, featured collaborations with artists like Jo Mersa Marley and explored themes of spirituality, social justice, and personal growth.

Following the success of ‘Lily of da Valley,’ Royal continued to push boundaries with his second studio album, simply titled ‘Royal,’ released in 2021. The album, which featured collaborations with top reggae artists such as Vybz Kartel, Protoje, and Stonebwoy, earned Royal his first Grammy nomination and further established him as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

In addition to his musical achievements, Royal has been recognized for his contributions to the reggae community, earning nominations for prestigious awards such as the Surf Roots TV & Radio “Album of the Year” award. His commitment to spreading messages of positivity, unity, and cultural pride has resonated with audiences worldwide, making him a beloved figure among reggae fans everywhere.

The upcoming concert at the Rose Theatre promises to be a celebration of music, culture, and unity, as Jesse Royal and his fellow artists take audiences on a journey through the heart and soul of reggae music.
