I-Maric Pays Tribute to Kingston with Debut EP

Reggae artiste I-Maric has been living in England for over two decades but his love for the place where he was born and raised has never waned.

The London-based deejay who grew up in the rough inner-city community of Payneland in Kingston is currently promoting his debut EP which is aptly titled ‘Welcome to Kingston.’

“I drew inspiration from all the happy memories I have of having grown up in Payneland with my mother. It wasn’t all roses but there were some wonderful times despite the struggles. Jamaica has its fair share of problems, especially with the crime but it is still one of the most beautiful and vibrant places in the world. No matter what I will always love Kingston,” said the artiste.

Ras I-Maric is the executive producer of the six-track EP which features songs such as ‘Dear Lord,’ ‘Crying for Peace,’ ‘Tired and Fed Up’ and the title track ‘Welcome to Kingston.’

“I am the executive producer of this project and, I also produced four of the songs on it. Kendoyll Simpson from Belize produced the other two, he also mixed and mastered the entire project,” said I-Maric.

‘Welcome to Kingston’ was released on the Poor People Productions imprint last year and is available on all digital platforms including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.

Ras I-Maric given name Phillip Dunkley launched his recording career in 2007 with the release of a single titled, ‘Oh Mama.’  Some of his other songs are ‘Who Feels It Now,’ ‘Mi Nuh Like Weh A Gwaan’ and ‘What Is Wrong Humanity.’
