G Cole Sings for Fathers

Like most fathers, singer G Cole spent Father’s Day hailing fellow Dads and basking in what he calls “the most important job I have.” Much of the past month has been spent ‘My Father’s Song’, his latest production.

While released with Father’s Day in mind, the South Florida-based Jamaican artist says the song’s message transcends June 16.

“It is very important to acknowledge fathers who play their roles, love and honor should be a symbiotic relationship. The love and care that Dad shows to you, should be rewarded. Honour is due to all who deserve it, especially in a time where the myth of the missing father is so loud. It also needs to be normalized for the next generation,” G Cole stated.

Born in the tourist town of Ocho Rios, G Cole was raised on the music of Dennis Brown, whom he regards as his biggest influence. ‘My Father’s Song’ is done to the music of ‘If I Follow my Heart’, one of the Crown Prince of Reggae’s biggest hits.

The father of a daughter, he believes it is important to show responsibility as a parent and artist. Being a parent, G Cole noted, has helped him mature as a person.

G Cole, who is also a Disc Jockey on Reggae Global Radio, has been a recording artist for over 20 years. During that time, he has released a number of easy-listening reggae songs as well as two albums — ‘This Music Vol 1 Return to Vintage’ and ‘Ocho Rios’.
