For his latest album, ‘Black, Green and Reggae’, G Cole returned to a format that has made a major comeback in recent years. It is scheduled for release on September 19, digitally and on vinyl.
Based in South Florida, G Cole said the resurgence of vinyl records in the past 10 years is one of the reasons he went that route.
“I chose vinyl because I miss the tangibility, I like for people to be able to feel the music they bought, I collect vinyl myself and I love reading the credits,” he stated. “Also, in this day and age, physicals are a collector’s item, and if I give you a CD, you may leave it on the backseat of your car, but if I gave you a vinyl, you’d never do that.”
Most of the top acts in the music industry are releasing albums on vinyl. Sales for vinyl records soared in 2025, surpassing US$1 billion according to Forbes Magazine.
Two songs from ‘Black, Green and Reggae’ have been released. They are ‘Your Love’ and ‘Feeling the Love’. The latter features singer Ed Robinson.
G Cole is from the resort town of Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Strongly influenced by Dennis Brown and Beres Hammond, he has released three albums. The most recent was ‘This Music 2.0’ which came out in 2023.
“All my albums are dedicated to someone. The first was to the legends that inspired me, the second was to my mother, daughter and wife; this album is dedicated to my friends,” he noted. “The constant theme on this album is the agape love. I love my friends, and we need to let the ones around us know this.”
