Flow 98.7 Faces a New Chapter Following Departure of Morning Show Hosts

Alicia "Ace" West and Marlon Palmer

Toronto’s only Black-owned radio station is entering a period of transition after the departure of two of its most recognizable on-air personalities.

FLOW 98.7 FM (CKFG-FM) has officially cancelled its morning program, “Ace & Marlon in the Morning,” following the exits of co-hosts Alicia “Ace” West and comedian Marlon Palmer. The pair, who also co-host the popular “Extra Gravy” podcast, had occupied the coveted morning drive slot since January 2024.

Their departure marks one of the most significant programming changes at the station in recent years and leaves the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. weekday slot without a permanent host for the first time since they took over the show.

While speculation about the future of the program continues, one thing is clear: the duo’s exit represents a notable shift for a station that has become an important voice for Toronto’s Black and Caribbean communities.

When Ace and Palmer stepped into the morning slot in early 2024, they brought a blend of humour, cultural commentary, music knowledge, and authentic Toronto perspectives. Their chemistry was already familiar to many listeners through the Extra Gravy” podcast, and the move to radio was seen as an opportunity to bring that energy to a broader audience.

The show aimed to connect with listeners during the busiest part of the day, combining entertainment, conversation, and music while reflecting the diverse communities that make up the Greater Toronto Area.

Over time, the pair developed a loyal audience, particularly among younger listeners who appreciated their unfiltered discussions and deep connections to Toronto culture.

In recent weeks, both hosts confirmed they were no longer with the station. At the same time, FLOW 98.7’s online presence related to the morning show was removed, signaling the official end of the program.

Neither the station nor the hosts have publicly detailed the circumstances surrounding the cancellation, but the result is clear: “Ace & Marlon in the Morning” has come to an end.

The departure leaves a noticeable gap in the station’s weekday lineup and raises questions about what direction management will take during one of radio’s most competitive and influential time periods.

Despite the changes, FLOW 98.7 continues to maintain its identity as a destination for Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, and Soca music. The station’s regular daytime and weekend hosts remain active, ensuring continuity for listeners while management determines the future of the morning schedule.
