Singer resurfaces with Sunshine Days after 13-year hiatus

It’s been more than a decade since singer Da’Ville has been active on the music scene. Still, the entertainer, who once had the industry in a chokehold, is hoping to make up for lost time with a vibrant new single dubbed ‘Sunshine Days’. Set for release on Friday, July 17, the track will usher in what the entertainer hopes to be a triumphant return.

Outlining that his career was never about “fame or fortune”, the reggae singer says music, even whilst in the shadows, has been his means of survival. He says resurfacing will show exactly that, as he has never stopped believing in himself.

“When I first started it was never about fame or fortune; it was just my passion. Music helped me survive. Even when nobody else believed in me, I believed in myself,” he said. “This track is personal and will show that I always looked forward to brighter days even amidst dark times.”

Speaking of dark times, the ‘Can’t Get Over You’ singer said a part of the reason for his 13-year hiatus was a falling out between himself and his record label.

He expressed that a contract he had entered into turned out to be stifling creatively. Walking away from the deal, he said, proved to be even more crippling.

“Eventually, I left New York. I walked away from my label, my management, and everything else. Then I found out I was being blacklisted just for standing up for myself,” he shared. “But I chose me. I chose joy. I chose faith. I chose the fans who never stopped believing.”

“This is the most personal and spiritual chapter of my journey,” Da’Ville continued. ‘Sunshine Days’ is about gratitude, love, and walking through life with your head up. The world needs that energy right now and I’m here to give it.”

‘Sunshine Days’ will be distributed by AMP Music and managed by Beautiful People Management, spearheaded by Wendy Morgan. According to Morgan, Da’Ville has grown tremendously during his time away from the spotlight and is ready to immerse himself fully in the space again.

“This project is truly from the heart. Da’Ville has grown tremendously, both personally and artistically. It’s an honour to help him bring this moment to the world,” said Morgan.

Askia, executive at AMP Music, said Da’’Ville has delivered something truly special with ‘Sunshine Days’ and says the artiste’s “voice and spirit are all over this song… ‘Sunshine Days’ is more than a single, it’s a statement. His truth, his voice, and his spirit are all over this song and we’re proud to stand behind him”.

The track’s music video was directed by BlingBlang Works.

“I’m happy every time an artiste I appreciate calls me to direct a project like this,” BlingBlang said. “I’m a fan of Da’Ville, so I was excited to bring this song to life on screen. It’s a great song for everyone.”

According to the production’s artistic director, Sasha Bling, the visuals will “offer vibrant storytelling that mirrors the song’s uplifting message”.
