Just over one year after his previous album was released, I-Octane returns with ‘Dancehall Gift’ which is released today (July 7). The singjay’s latest set has 10 songs and has a different sound than ‘I Am Great’, its predecessor.
“I Am Great was more like an inspirational/motivational love energy, but this new album is more on the dancehall side,” said I-Octane. He added that it is critical to release albums at appropriate junctures to retain fan interest.
“It is important for artists to release singles a few times for the year to keep their brand active, but albums once every year or every year and half,” he said.
Three songs — ‘Speed Up di Process’, ‘Keep it Coming’ and ‘Da Wine Deh’ — are the songs released to date from ‘Dancehall Gift’. Conquer The Globe Productions, Seanizzle, Troyton Music and ZJ Liquid are some of the producers who worked on the album.
Conquer The Globe Productions and Troyton Music produced ‘I Am Great’. In addition to ‘I Am Great’, I-Octane released several singles in 2022 including ‘Independent’, ‘Chocolate’ (done with Inner Circle) and ‘Paranoid’, a collaboration with Rygin King.
From Clarendon parish in central Jamaica, I-Octane is best known for songs such as ‘L.O.V.E.Y.O.U.’ and ‘Hold Her in my Arms’.
