DJ Donovan Dacres of RJR/FAME FM in Jamaica takes his musical magic to Toronto, Canada, on Saturday, November 19, as a special guest at the Decorose Dinner/Dance Birthday Celebration at the Jamaica Canadian Association, 995 Arrow Road.
Donovan Dacres is one of the stalwarts who helped to set the standard of Jamaican music and has continued over the years to maintain it. On October 15, 2022, at the National Heroes Day Celebration, Dacres received the Badge of Honour for long and faithful service for his contribution to the music industry from the government of Jamaica.
Donovan Dacres has worked up to four decades on radio. His love for music began while listening to songs played by his parents and neighbors in east Kingston. The well-known DJ got his break on radio at the now-defunct Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) in the late 1970s when he was asked to work for a co-worker who went on leave. After three weeks, his time got extended for another month. The head of the department was very impressed he asked Dacres to stay on full-time.
The veteran DJ alongside DJ Corey, singer Rad Dixon and Latoya Mullings will be providing first-class entertainment at Decorose Dinner/Dance Birthday Celebration this Saturday November 19.
