Currently on a high through the dancehall hit, ‘Continent’, Nigy Boy takes a different path with ‘Goodness of God’, a collaboration with Canadian singer Jazmin Headley. Produced by Anthony “ER Guru” Turner, the song is scheduled for release in September.
‘Goodness of God’ was originally done in 2019 by Bethel Music and Jenn Johnson, with CeCe Winans covering it in 2021. Jazmin’s mother, Deborah Myers, said it was Turner who approached her to get the 11-year-old artist involved.
“This project started around 5 am one Saturday morning in April this year when the producer called to ask my thoughts about both Nigy and Jazmin recording the song together. For some reason, it seemed as if I was expecting the call, so I gave the green light, and as they say, the rest is history,” she disclosed.
A video for the song is also scheduled for release in early September.
The Montego Bay-born, New York-based Nigy Boy got his breakthrough with ‘Continent’, produced by Rvssian, best known for his hit songs with Vybz Kartel. In July, he performed at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.
Born in Toronto to Jamaican parents, Jazmin was a member of the cast on Ukulele U, a nationally syndicated CBC TV show for children in Canada, and also recorded a song, ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’, with Bounty Killer.
Jazmin Headley has a role in ‘The Fire Inside’, a movie based on the life of American boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields. It will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
