Veteran Jamaican radio broadcaster Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess is changing the game in real time. Less than a year after he vacated the air chair, the Party Master built his own digital platform richiebradio.com and it is paying dividends. Four weeks ago, the online platform went live. Days later he brokered a deal for his morning program to simulcast in the tri-state area, the largest media market in the world.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be back on the airwaves in the tri-state area on Roadblock radio!” Burgess said. “Connecting with listeners in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, brings a unique energy and vibrancy that’s truly invigorating. I’m excited to share the rhythms of Kingston with this diverse and dynamic audience. Prepare to be inspired, informed, and entertained like never before” he added.
Roadblock Radio, CBS 101.1 FM HD3 digital signal can reach 2 million plus Caribbean nationals in the tri-state, who can access the signal through an HD radio receiver, available in newer model cars, with a mobile app, or by streaming online at roadblockradio.com.
“I wanted to have an explosive start,” Burgess shared.
His first guests, Beres Hammond, Reggae Sumfest head honcho Joe Bogdanovich; former Jamaica Deputy Police Commissioner Mark Shields and Minister of Health & Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton.
“This is an exciting opportunity to expand roadblock’s presence in the nation’s largest media market,” said an ecstatic Kacy Rankine, CEO of Roadblock radio.
“Richie is one of our industry’s most respected talents and he has an incredible work ethic. I expect him to electrify morning listeners with interesting news bites, engaging discussions, laughter and the hottest tunes to kick off the day. We look forward to his compelling content to build on our position as the leading Caribbean franchise in the tri-state,” Rankine added.
