In July, Warrior King is scheduled to perform in Costa Rica, one of his comeback shows overseas since Covid-19 shut down the live show scene three years ago.
The roots artist is raring to go, and he has a number of new songs under his belt, including ‘Ragga’, a song produced by Etana. ‘Africa’, ‘I-Niversal Light’ and ‘Cherish’ are some of the other recently released singles by the diminutive singer. “Wi looking forward to it. Touring is the greatest way to meet di fans an’ feel their love, an’ show dem you appreciate dem as well,” said Warrior King.
In addition to Costa Rica, he is booked for gigs in the Eastern Caribbean and United States, the latter being one of his strongest markets. Prior to his overseas run, Warrior King performed on two high-profile shows in Jamaica — Junior Reid’s One Blood Festival in St. Ann and the Father’s Day Reggae for Breakast show in Kingston. Both saw him doing ‘Virtuous Woman’ and ‘Never go Where Pagans Go’, songs that announced him as an artist to watch 20 years ago.
Those tracks also earned Warrior King a following in Europe where he has played the biggest festivals such as Summerjam in Germany and Rototom Sunsplash in Spain. “Those songs are like di cornerstone. I can’t do a show without performing dem,” he said.
