Sisterhood in the music industry, especially within reggae, has not always come easily. Though we are witnessing a powerful elevation and coming together of women in these times, the past offered only rare moments of true creative and collective unity. The male dominated world, and the pressures put on women in general…let alone in the spotlight have notoriously created an environment where women tend to lose sight of their own light, diminish their confidence and thus throw them into competition with each other.
This is not the true nature of a woman. Women in their natural environment tend to gravitate towards each other in community for the upliftment of all those around them. The sisterhood project was the attempt to bring women back to their roots through a collaborative process – and needless to say this “experiment” so to speak, worked! And very successfully at that.
This project is a true testament to what can be created when people come together in unity, standing in support of each other for the greater good of music and humankind.
“This will be a first of many, says Mullings, and I’m truly honoured to have been a part of the creation process of this project, a life-long dream fulfilled, and bearing witness to these amazing women who shared their talents and energy to make this happen. I am extremely proud of each and every one of them.”
Up next on the Rebel Vibez Recordz roster will be the sequel project entitled “The Brotherhood Project” – release date TBA.
The Sisterhood Project is now available on all streaming platforms
