The Human Rights Band Gears Up for Epic Tours, Launches Crowdfunding Campaign

Canada’s renowned reggae ensemble, The Human Rights, is poised to embark on two remarkable tours, marking their push into both Atlantic Canada and the heartland of the United States. As they prepare to hit the road for a series of electrifying performances, the band is reaching out to their fans and the reggae community for support through a dynamic crowdfunding campaign.

The band’s itinerary is nothing short of impressive, comprising a first-ever tour to Atlantic Canada this September, followed by a journey through the Midwest U.S. in October. The tour route stretches from Chicago down to the famed New Orleans Reggaefest and culminates with an opening act for The Slackers in Austin.

However, undertaking a 20-show tour with a large band like The Human Rights presents formidable challenges. To ensure the success of their tours and the well-being of their members on the road, the band has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $15,000 over a 60-day period.

Supporters are encouraged to engage with the campaign by purchasing the band’s music, merchandise, and pre-paid live show tickets. The campaign’s success will not only enable the band to thrive on the road but also contribute to the creation of their fourth full-length album, slated for release in the fall of 2024.

In return for supporters’ generosity, The Human Rights are offering an array of benefits tailored to various levels of contribution, including brand-new vinyl of their album “Reggae Strong,” stylish hoodies and apparel, concert tickets, as well as opportunities for private parties and pre-paid club concerts. The band’s journey is significant not only for their music but for the broader Canadian reggae scene. As the industry increasingly pivots toward digital streaming, the financial demands of recording, producing, marketing, and touring original music have intensified. The Human Rights are among the few Canadian reggae bands touring extensively, not only within Canada but also in the United States. Supporting their campaign underscores the significance of Canadian reggae on the global stage.

Since their formation in 2007 under the guidance of Friendlyness, a stalwart of the Toronto reggae scene, The Human Rights have earned a devoted following and garnered respect as an independent reggae powerhouse. The addition of Tréson in 2014 elevated the band’s vocal prowess, creating a captivating blend of roots reggae, soul, R&B, and dancehall.

With a lineup comprising seasoned musicians and a dynamic horn section, The Human Rights have made their mark through over 200 performances across Canadian clubs and festivals. Their recent venture into the United States received an enthusiastic response, setting the stage for their upcoming U.S. tour.

As The Human Rights prepare to share their musical magic across continents, their crowdfunding campaign beckons fans, music lovers, and the Reggae Massive to unite in supporting the band’s journey. With their rich reggae tapestry and unwavering commitment, The Human Rights stand as a testament to the global reach of original Canadian reggae.
