Terry Linen, Redrose Take on the Heathens.

‘No Heathen’, a collaboration by Terry Linen and Anthony Redrose, is scheduled for release January 12 by Tad’s International Record. It is produced by Tad Dawkins Jr.

It is a cover of Redrose’s 1994 song produced by Richard Bell for Startrail Records. Terry Linen said it was one of his favorite tracks as a budding artist, in rural St. Elizabeth parish, Jamaica.  “Is a song mi always love, ’cause it have certain powers. Dat song is about me,” he said.

Once he decided to cover ‘No Heathen’, Terry Linen called on Redrose to play a part on his version, which is expected to be on his (Terry Linen’s) album, scheduled for release in 2024.

Best known for songs like ‘Couldn’t be The Girl for Me’ and a cover of Whitney Houston’s ‘Your Love is my Love’, Terry Linen and the team at Tad’s went for a different feel than the original. Their take is totally live, with the musicians being saxophonist Dean Fraser, trumpeter Okiel McIntyre, guitarist Mitchum “Khan” Chin, drummer Kirk Bennett and Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis.

Anthony Redrose cut ‘No Heathen’ on a revamped version of the Tempo ‘riddim’ produced by his mentor King Tubby in the late 1980s. The Startrail version also drove hit songs by Everton Blender (‘Family Man’) and Capleton (‘Don’t dis The Trinity’).
