Snappa Chef Chooses Life Over Money

The rigors of a nine-to-five job with inadequate compensation is the subject of ‘Money Over Life’, a song by Jamaican singjay Snappa Chef. Released on April 3, it is produced by Betty Luv Entertainment.

Snappa Chef, who lives in New York, believes the traditional workforce exploits persons of color, who are unable to save as much money as their white counterparts, and enjoy pleasures like exotic vacations.

“When I realize how it’s a game they are playing with us, I had to take a deep look into it. Some people work all their lives and never see the great results,” he noted.

His message is, despite setting up the 401K and beating the nine-to-five pavement daily, make sure there is enough quality time for family.

“People should take time out just to vibe with their kids. Don’t work yourself away, leave time for yourself,” Snappa Chef noted. ‘Money Over Life’ is his latest collaboration with Betty Luv Entertainment, a New York-based company operated by fellow Jamaican Bethynia Palmer. In 2022, they worked on the humorous ‘Dumpling Plane’, a reminiscence about Air Jamaica, Jamaica’s national airline which went out of business in 2011.

The Spanish Town native is also promoter of Snapps Splash, his birthday event which is scheduled for July 19 at Andrea’s Outdoor in New York.
