Richie B Receives Reggae Ambassador Award at Kings of Kings 31st Anniversary Celebration in Toronto.

TORONTO, Canada — Veteran broadcaster and media personality Richard “Richie B” Burgess, CEO of Richie B Radio, was honoured with the prestigious Reggae Ambassador Award during the Kings of Kings 31st Anniversary Celebration held on Saturday at the Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA) in Toronto.

The award recognized Burgess’ outstanding contribution to the broadcasting, music and entertainment industries over an illustrious career spanning more than four decades. Organizers cited his professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to promoting reggae music and Caribbean culture both locally and internationally.

The presentation came as a complete surprise to the celebrated broadcaster. At the time, Burgess was backstage conducting a live outside broadcast on Richie B Radio when event organizers escorted him to the stage to receive the honour. The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from patrons gathered for the milestone celebration.

Clearly moved by the recognition, Burgess expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, supporters, loyal listeners, colleagues, friends and fans around the world who have supported him throughout his career.

“I’m almost lost for words,” Burgess remarked as he accepted the award, acknowledging the significant role radio and entertainment have played in his life. He also reflected on the privilege of representing Jamaican culture on international platforms and helping to showcase Caribbean talent to global audiences.

For many in attendance, the moment was especially meaningful, having followed Richie B’s journey for years through his radio programmes and his role as host and emcee at major entertainment events across Jamaica, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and beyond.

Speaking with journalists’ backstage following the presentation, Burgess said the recognition serves as renewed inspiration to continue using his platform to promote Caribbean music, culture and positive broadcasting.

Richie B currently hosts the popular Richie B Morning Show, airing weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. across multiple platforms, including Roadblock Radio in the United States, Silk Radio UK and Reggae North Radio in Canada.

The Kings of Kings 31st Anniversary Celebration featured an impressive lineup of renowned selectors, broadcasters, sound system veterans and entertainment personalities, making it one of Toronto’s premier Caribbean entertainment events of the year.
