On ‘Stop Put Money Over Life’, singers Anthony Redrose and Hopeton Lindo call for more brotherly love and less focus on the almighty dollar.
The track, co-written by the veteran artists, is produced by Redrose for his Raggedy Joe label. It was released on March 27.
“This song is a wake-up call. It’s showing people that life is not just about wealth and all those worldly things. It’s about how you treat other people and the way you live. The love you distribute will come back to you,” Redrose reasoned.
He said the decision to record ‘Stop Put Money Over Life’ with Lindo stemmed from the positive response their previous collaboration received. That song, ‘A Different Christmas’, was released in 2023 as part of ‘Feel it Christmas’, an EP produced by Lindo’s Irie Pen Records.
Lindo and Redrose are contemporaries who began recording music in the 1980s after years of doing the sound system rounds in Kingston, Jamaica. They first met at the Waterhouse studio (in Kingston) of legendary engineer Osbourne “King Tubby” Ruddock and have maintained a solid friendship.
Redrose is known for songs such as ‘Under mi Fat Ting’ and ‘Intimate’. Lindo’s hit singles include ‘Territory’ and ‘Lonely Night’.
