RANYMO Returns with Four Songs, One Rhythm, One Truth

After a noticeable silence from the recording space, reggae artist RANYMO has returned—not hurried, not chasing trends, but grounded in intention. His latest EP, Quadruplets,’ marks more than just new music; it represents healing, patience, and a deeper alignment with purpose.

The hiatus, he explains, was both intentional and deeply personal. While the music never stopped forming—lyrics still written, ideas still alive—the passing of his mother changed everything. That loss pulled him away from recording, performing, interviews, and even the motivation to release music at all.

“I needed time to realign—personally, spiritually, and emotionally,” RANYMO shares. “I didn’t want to rush music just to stay visible.” Learning how to carry grief while still moving forward was a long and difficult process, but it ultimately shaped the clarity that made Quadruplets’ possible.

Interestingly, ‘Quadruplets’ was never planned as an EP. There was no intention to record four songs, nor to place them all on the same rhythm. The project unfolded organically—much like life itself. RANYMO likens it to preparing for one child and discovering you are having four.

The journey began when a producer sent him a beat. The first song, ‘No Favor,’ was inspired by a quote from Bob Marley warning against political favors and the strings that often come attached. That thought evolved into a powerful statement on self-reliance and standing firmly on one’s own principles.

From there, the rhythm carried the process forward. ‘No Friends’ followed naturally, then ‘Problem,’ sparked by encouragement from fellow artist Kafinal to explore a different perspective. When RANYMO shared the rhythm with his longtime collaborator and “big brother” Zukie Joseph, the final piece fell into place. Without hesitation, they reunited creatively, giving birth to ‘Righteousness.’

Personally, Quadruplets’ represents trust—trusting the creative process and allowing things to unfold without force. Four songs, one rhythm, one moment in time.

At its core, Quadruplets’ is built on honesty and progression. Each song explores a different reality: self-reliance, betrayal, emotional conflict, and righteousness. Though distinct in message, they are bound together by the same rhythm and energy—mirroring how life often delivers multiple lessons all at once.

RANYMO wanted listeners to feel understood and grounded. The project does not aim to escape reality, but to face it head-on with clarity and strength. By the final track, the emotion he hopes remains is resilience—a reminder that growth and purpose exist even through hardship.

Structurally, Quadruplets’ also marks a confident evolution. While three of the songs share a similar melodic feel in the chorus, each track transforms once the chorus ends. The verses shift in flow, melody, energy, and character. That contrast was intentional.

The inspiration for this approach comes from watching Ninja Man perform live moving through multiple lyrical styles on a single rhythm with fearless expression. Once the direction felt right, RANYMO leaned fully into it. Compared to his earlier work, ‘Quadruplets’ is more daring, more expressive, and more assured in its execution.

As reggae continues to evolve alongside modern sounds, RANYMO remains firmly rooted in tradition. For him, honoring reggae’s foundation is not a limitation—it is identity.

“I see myself as an extension of my ancestors,” he explains. “They live through me. Straying from that foundation would mean straying away from myself.”

While he stays aware of current trends, everything is filtered through authenticity. Growth does not require abandoning roots. Reggae has always evolved, but its core—message, rhythm, and responsibility—remains unchanged.

The collaboration with Zukie Joseph on Righteousness’ was shaped by history, trust, and family. Their bond goes beyond music; it is one of deep understanding and mutual respect. That connection translated naturally into the final track, giving it weights and sincerity.

Now based in Vancouver, Canada, RANYMO credits the city with playing a meaningful role in his journey. The environment reminded him of Jamaica—the trees, birds, and slower pace helping him feel grounded. Over time, he became deeply connected to Vancouver’s reggae and dancehall community, where roots music is genuinely appreciated.

Vancouver audiences show up, listen, and value the message as much as the performance. Seeing legendary artists like Burning Spear sell out shows reinforced his belief that authenticity always has a place. Even during his time away from the stage after his mother’s passing, the support never faded.

The response to ‘Quadruplets’ has exceeded expectations. Without releasing an official music video—only lyric videos—the momentum shifted dramatically. Subscriber counts and followers surged across platforms, but what stood out most was the energy behind the numbers.

DJs began reaching out directly. Listeners connected deeply with the honesty of the music. For RANYMO, the feedback reaffirmed a powerful lesson: patience, consistency, and authenticity still matter.

Looking ahead, his focus is on sustainability and understanding the business of music. He has invested time in learning about publishing, royalties, and rights management through organizations such as ASCAP, SoundExchange, ACTRA RACS, and the MLC. That knowledge now shapes every move he makes.

Fans can expect consistent single releases rather than rushed projects, along with a thoughtful reintroduction of his earlier catalog—from ‘Real Life’ through ‘Praises’ and ‘The Evolving’—so new listeners can experience the full journey. Live performances are also on the horizon, with bookings expected to resume this summer.

Despite health challenges that led him to cut his locks due to psoriasis, RANYMO remains unwavering in spirit. “Music is my legacy—my children,” he says. Everything moving forward is intentional, informed, and rooted in purpose.
