Canadian dancehall artist Razh Don released his second song ‘Bubble Up’ in 2020, but the arrival of the COVID pandemic thwarted his effort to introduce his name and brand to the world. With things back to normal, Rahz Don is now ready to write a new chapter and establish himself in the dancehall arena, and his latest single ‘Guh Dung Guh Dung’; is destined to help him do just that.
Rahz Don feels there are not enough songs being made for women to have fun in dancehall today, and that is why he specifically wrote ‘Guh Dung Guh Dung’ for the ladies. “My music is catered mostly to women who love to dance and shine”, he said. “They are upbeat with flowing lyrics, guarantee to keep heads bopping and popping. I find that currently there is not enough new music dedicated to women, plus when you write songs for the ladies, only good things follow”.
Rahz Don was born Kevin Green in Old Harbour, St Catherine, Jamaica, and migrated to Canada many years ago at a very young age. Rahz describes himself as a humble, friendly, fun, and easy-going person who loves Family, Life, and Music. He graduated from George Brown College and Ryerson University, holding credentials in Graphic Arts and Computer Science. Rahz Don currently works in the Banking industry as an IT Associate analyst.
From a tender age, Rahz Don was exposed to music by his uncles, who sang and played their bass guitars to dancehall and Reggae music. For many years he would imitate some of his favorite artists like Beenie Man and was encouraged by friends and family to consider music as a career. However, Rahz never explored his musical ability until years later, when he eventually recorded his first song, ‘Rahzzle Dahzzle’.
“Throughout the years, I found myself imitating some of my favorite artists, and after getting a lot of positive feedback, I finally decided to go to the studio and recorded my first song in 2019”, he said.
Rahz Don is happy to be making great music in Canada. However, he is saddened knowing so many talented artists here are not getting a fair chance because they might not know where to start, or where to seek help.
“Many artists meet up in roadblocks from other existing parties in the industry, and that discourages the natural progression”, he said. “To build a viable music industry here in Canada, we must unite and work collectively; this way, the rest of the world will hear and see that Canadian artists and musicians have a lot to offer to the reggae/dancehall space.
Rahz Don plans to continue making quality music and is determined to get his songs in the ears of people in Canada and worldwide. He is ready to collaborate with artists and people willing to work together and promote each other for the betterment of the Canadian music industry. Rahz Don’s music is available on all leading online stores, and fans can check out his videos for ‘Bubble Up’ and ‘Guh Dung Guh Dung’ on youtube.
