Qshan Deya the Reggae Ambassador

‘Reggae Ambassador’, Qshan Deya’s fourth album, was released on May 9. It is a collaboration with House of Riddim, a respected band from Austria.

The album contains 14 songs including ‘So in Love’ and the title track which were released in March and April, respectively. Qshan Deya said he and House of Riddim began production on ‘Reggae Ambassador’ shortly after they backed him at the inaugural Sunflower Festival in Austria last year.

Qshan Deya has lived in Accra, Ghana for the past two years. It is where he recorded ‘Freedom Street’, his third album which was released last year.

“I decided to go back to my roots in Ghana on May 23, 2023. The decision has always been my desire to fulfill repatriation back to the land of my ancestors of which my Quashie family is direct descendants to the Gua We people, the Ga tribe who are first settlers in Accra, Ghana,” said the singer.

Since he began recording music over 20 years ago, Qshan Deya has worked with several producers including Jamaican Garfield “Sampalue” Phillips, best known for his work with Lady Saw. His other albums are ‘Journey’, which came out in 2001, and ‘Love Governs Us All’, released in 2014.

House Of Riddim is considered one of the leading session/show bands in Europe. They have produced songs and backed acts such as Luciano, Tanya Stephens, Jah Mason and Sizzla.
