Many people find redemption while they are imprisoned. Jamaican singjay, Visionn, not only found a new lease on life but revived his music career after being released.
Recently, he released ‘Let It Be Done on Your Time’ with dancehall diva D’Angel. It is his second song, and the follow-up to ‘Save Me’ which was released in March.
Visionn, who is from Westmoreland parish in rural Jamaica, said he left behind bars a better man.
“My education is wider, I came out a better person, because I realize I can’t do what I used to. I’m definitely a stronger, better person,” said the artist, who co-produced ‘Let It Be Done on Your Time’ with Damian Vaz.
After debuting with ‘Save Me’, his management encouraged him to record a collaboration for his next song, preferably with an established act. They agreed on D’Angel, whose outrageous antics have made her a dancehall darling.
Previously known as Puss Eye, Visionn was a regular on the live show scene during his youth. He remembers performing at Di Buss — a popular venue in Negril that attracted tourists and locals — alongside top acts like Wayne Wonder, Buju Banton and General Degree.
After migrating to the United States, Visionn said he got into trouble with the law which curtailed his artistic aspirations. On his return to Jamaica, he made a music comeback minus the flamboyance of his early years.
“I consider myself a spiritual person, no doubt about it. People can expect to hear a lot more from Visionn this year,” he said.
