‘Revelation’, the third album from roots singer Samory I, will be launched in Kingston, Jamaica on May 29. He co-produced the set with Clive Hunt.
It comes three years after ‘Strength’, Samory I’s second album, which was produced by Phillip “Winta” James. ‘Black Gold’, his first album, was released in 2017. That work was produced by Rory Gilligan.
Three songs from ‘Revelation’ have been released. They are ‘Victory’ (with Chronic Law), ‘Season to Love’ and ‘Siren’ (with Govana).
According to Samory I, the biggest difference with his earlier albums is an increased input in the production process.
“Di other albums I was involved, but not at dis magnitude. Di sounds come from I an’ I an’ Clive Hunt,” he said.
Hunt is one of reggae’s most respected producers. He has worked with The Abyssinians, Jimmy Cliff, Mystic Revealers, French reggae legend Pierpoljak, African superstar Alpha Blondy, Etana and Richie Spice.
‘Strength’ earned strong reviews from the mainstream press in the United States. It was named #42 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s 100 Best Albums of 2023. Samory, I plan to tour Europe as part of the promotion for ‘Revelation’.
