New Album from Maka Lox and Friends

The ‘Madadtu Yudayaty’ is the latest project from Jamaican producer Maka Lox. Tentatively scheduled for release in April, it has songs by Takana Zion, Richie Spice, Little Robert, Natty King and newcomer Adwoa.

Maka Lox revealed that he recorded the tracks for the ‘riddim’ over 10 years ago at Tuff Gong studio in Kingston. He played guitar alongside veteran drummer Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace, bassist Flabba Holt and keyboardist Lloyd “Obeah” Denton.

“Di idea is to get these songs out di right way ‘cause they are great. Dis is also a platform for albums by Takana Zion, Little Robert and Adwoa,” said Maka Lox.

Takana Zion, from Guinea, is one of the leading reggae artistes in Africa. He has worked with Maka Lox for over 15 years and contributed a song to the producer’s ‘Congo General’ compilation which was released in late 2024.

At the All-Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) on January 11 in Lagos, Nigeria, Takana Zion’s song, ‘On My Eyes’, won the Best African Act Reggae, Ragga & Dancehall category. On the ‘Madadtu Yudayaty’, Takana Zion collaborates with Richie Spice on the title song. They also feature on ‘One Destiny’ with Maka Lox, while Little Robert teams with Capleton on ‘Toughest’.

Adwoa debuts with ‘Runaway Girl’; Natty King does ‘Ghetto Youths’, while Jah Thunder and Arqane team-up for ‘Driver’. Fitta Warri and Ricky Sai Sai complete the vocal side of the album with ‘Show Off’.
