Mr. Vegas keeps the Gallis Code

Mr. Vegas

What would the dancehall be without a little drama? ‘Gallis Code’, Mr. Vegas’ latest song, has the potential to hit the charts and grab headlines at the same time.

The veteran deejay, known for speaking his mind on musical and political affairs, defends one of the genre’s most popular female entertainers on the track which is done on the popular WYFL ‘riddim’, produced by DJ Mac.

“The artist D’ Angel inspired ‘Gallis Code’. I did not like the way in which a certain producer/artist treated her after she stopped working with him. He went public and insinuated that he slept with her, then later said it was a lie,” said Mr. Vegas.

He is referring to a 2025 spat between D’Angel and deejay/producer Khago which followed the release of ‘Personal’, their collaboration. Khago hinted that their relationship was more than professional.

For Mr. Vegas, that was crossing the line. He wrote ‘Gallis Code’ for the WYFL beat, which is one of the hottest riddims in dancehall since the start of 2026, with high-profile acts such as Spice, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Cham and Wormbass recording songs on it.

“The song has been doing very well; the AI music video is close to 1 million views,” Mr. Vegas reported.

Never afraid to speak his mind, Mr. Vegas is known for hit songs such as ‘Heads High’ and ‘Nike Air’ and ‘Hot Gal Today’, as well as clashes with fellow artists.

In 2025, he was arguably the most vocal entertainer during the general election campaign in Jamaica. The outspoken artist openly supported the incumbent Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) which retained power at the September 3 poll, defeating the main opposition People’s National Party (PNP).
