Living Stress Free with Norman Espeut

When Norman Espeut came into the music business in the early 1980s, vinyl records and cassette tapes were fashionable. Life was also less complicated. The singer longs for simpler times on ‘Stress Free’, his latest song which was released in January.

Despite the personal and professional challenges, he encourages everyone to take the proverbial chill pill.

“Stress Free” is promoting good health and wellness, so the message behind the song is, ‘good health trumps all else’. Life has taught me that without good health and wellness, life is of little worth,” said Espeut.

Music fans know the veteran artist from his days with KOTCH, a reggae band that rose to the top of Jamaican and Diaspora charts in 1983 with the easy listening ‘Jean’.

KOTCH, which also included guitarist Pablo Stewart and keyboardist Herbie Harris, followed up with covers of Eric Clapton’s ‘Wonderful Tonight’ and ‘Tears’, originally done by Force MDs.

Since leaving KOTCH, Espeut has released several solo songs. He has also learned to keep pace with changing trends.

“The industry has seen some amount of changes. For example, from traditional instruments to computer-generated sounds. From cassette to email and from traditional media to social media platforms and recently AI, are some of the most evident,” he noted. “I welcome and embrace all the new changes and innovations.”
