Produced under Brown’s Canadian record label, DMI, ‘Africa is Calling’ boasts a stellar lineup of musicians, including the legendary drummer Sly Dunbar, bassist Glen Browne, and keyboardist Wrong Move. Recorded at Kingston, Jamaica’s One-Pop studio and expertly mixed by Rory Baker, the single is poised to deliver a powerful and vibrant sound that transcends genres.
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, Brown’s early career saw him as a member of reggae groups The Emotions and Hippy Boys before making the pivotal move to Canada.
Despite his move back to Jamaica, Leroy Brown remains deeply connected to his roots in the Canadian reggae scene. Reflecting on his musical journey, Brown expressed, “Five decades of my recording career was done in Canada. I arrived in Canada in 1972 and I helped to build the Canadian music industry. Canada is my home and always will be.”
