Kenne Blessin Gets Your Attention

Kenne Blesssin had romance on his mind when he started production on what became ‘Caught My Attention’, his second album. Initially, the project was to be his second EP.

Over time, the Atlanta-based singer’s focus changed and ‘Caught My Attention’ became a more rounded effort. It was released in February through Dacosta Muzic.

“It started as a love EP, with songs like ‘Falling for You’, ‘Be with You’, ‘Understanding’ and ‘Caught My Attention’. Then I realized I couldn’t jus’ do a love EP, it needs to have content about self-awareness an’ world affairs without being political or religious,” said Kenne Blessin.

Containing 15 songs, ‘Caught My Attention’ was released seven years after his debut album, ‘Get Up & Go’. His EP, ‘Millions’, came out in 2020 while he recorded well-received covers of Simply Red’s ‘Holding Back the Years’ and ‘Perfect’, originally done by Ed Sheeran.

Kenne Blessin worked with Dominic Gall and Peter Frederick out of the United Kingdom on ‘Caught My Attention’, as well as session musicians from that country. On a cover of Barrington Levy’s ‘Vice Versa Love’, the marijuana-friendly ‘Ganja from Jah’ and the soca song, ‘My Love Will Never Die’, he shows his versatility.

“I wanted it to be world enough so everyone can listen,” said Kenne Blessin.

Born in Kingston, he was raised in St. Thomas, a rural parish in eastern Jamaica. Kenne Blessin also spent some time in Antigua where he was part of a rock band and developed an appreciation for soca.
