Iley Dread sings from Inna America

Singer/producer Colin “Iley Dread” Levy released his latest song, ‘Inna America (Conspiracy’) on May 14 through VP Records.

It addresses reasons for his current incarceration in the United States on drug-related charges. Iley Dread, a Jamaica-born Canadian citizen, claims he was wrongfully arrested.

‘Inna America’ is his first released song since ‘Smile’ which came out in 2017.  “I’m asking my fans to brace themselves for another follow-up single titled ‘Chant’. I was told that ‘Chant’ is one of my strongest productions of all my songs both lyrically and instrumentally. I am feeling motivated by the outpouring of prayers and encouragement I have been getting from the musical family for which I am sincerely grateful and wish you all Heaven’s blessings. One love,” he said.

Iley Dread is from Hanover parish in western Jamaica. He migrated to Canada during the 1970s and gradually got involved in that country’s reggae scene.

In the 1990s, his Kings of Kings label produced a flood of singles by top artists such as Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs as well as emerging acts like Norris Man. The latter’s 2000 album, ‘Persistence’, was produced by Iley Dread; it was recently recognized by Spotify for over one million streams.

As an artist, Iley Dread is known for songs such as ‘Rise up This Morning’ and ‘Flowers in my Garden’. He has recorded three albums to date, the previous being ‘Unleashed’ which came out in 2016.
