The nine-track project blends reggae, dancehall and contemporary gospel while sharing a message of faith, spiritual growth and personal transformation.
Canadian Gospel Reggae artiste Sone G is among 119 albums and EPs reportedly included on the provisional list of releases being considered for the Best Reggae Album category at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
The recognition comes as Sone G continues to build his musical career with the release of his nine-track Album “New Man,” on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The project blends authentic Gospel Reggae with elements of dancehall, roots reggae, contemporary gospel and Caribbean rhythms, delivering a message centred on faith, hope and spiritual transformation.
For Sone G, being included on the provisional list represents an important milestone after years of dedication to his craft.
“To be among the albums being considered in this category is a win by itself. It shows that not only secular music can be on the road to nomination or win,” he said. “I have been working non-stop for years honing my musical skills and I am starting to see results for the hard work.”
The provisional consideration does not constitute an official Grammy nomination, but the development marks a significant moment for the artist and highlights the presence of Gospel Reggae within the wider reggae music eco-system.
At the heart of “New Man” is the belief that a person’s past does not have to determine their future. The title reflects Sone G’s Christian faith and his understanding of the transformative power of surrendering one’s life to Christ.
“The title ‘New Man’ represents the transformation that only God can bring,” he explained. “Spiritually, it’s rooted in the biblical truth that when we surrender our lives to Christ, we are no longer defined by our past, our mistakes or our old nature. Personally, it’s a reflection of my own journey.”
Inspired by his personal walk with God and the experiences of people searching for hope and purpose, the project reflects what Sone G describes as a period of maturity, clarity and renewed focus in both his life and music.
“I’ve grown not only as an artist but as a man of faith,” he said. “Every song comes from a place of recognising God’s faithfulness through different seasons of life and wanting to encourage others that no matter where they are today, God can completely change their tomorrow.”
Through themes of struggle, gratitude, identity, faith and victory, New Man seeks to remind listeners that failure, pain and the labels imposed by others do not have to define their lives.
“No matter your past, your failures or what people have labelled you, your story doesn’t end there,” Sone G said. “Through Christ, you can become a new creation.”
Musically, the nine-track Album presents a more intentional and confident expression of Sone G’s artistry. Each song carries its own identity while contributing to the project’s overarching narrative of transformation.
Tracks such as “Stronger,” “Rescue Me” and the title track, “New Man,” explore personal experiences and reflections from the artist’s faith journey. Previously released singles “Big Up” and “Jamaica Is My Home” bring themes of gratitude, praise, culture and identity into the project.
While the EP focuses on spiritual renewal, Sone G also emphasises the importance of cultural identity and personal experiences in shaping his music.
“While the EP speaks about spiritual transformation, it also reminds people that becoming a new person in Christ doesn’t erase your identity or where you come from,” he said. “God can use your culture, your experiences and your story for His glory.”
The combination of reggae’s cultural roots and gospel’s message of faith allows Sone G to present his beliefs through a sound that reflects his Caribbean influences and artistic identity.
The collaborative effort helped shape the project’s sound while maintaining its central message of spiritual growth, restoration and renewed purpose.
For Sone G, the ultimate measure of the EP’s impact extends beyond industry recognition. He hopes the music will encourage listeners facing difficult circumstances and remind them that change and healing remain possible through faith.
“My prayer is that when someone listens to this project, they don’t just hear reggae music; they hear encouragement, truth and the reminder that God is still able to heal, restore and transform every situation,” he said.
With “New Man” now available on all major digital streaming platforms, Sone G continues to use Gospel Reggae as a vehicle for sharing his testimony and reaching audiences with a message of hope.
As the 2027 Grammy Awards consideration process progresses, the artiste’s inclusion on the reported provisional list offers a moment of encouragement for his career and for the broader visibility of gospel-inspired reggae music.
