Originally hailing from London, Ontario, and now residing in Vancouver, Gisto’s musical journey has taken him across borders and genres. When he first set foot in the birthplace of reggae music, Jamaica, Gisto had no contacts. However, within a mere two weeks on the island, he transformed from a stranger into a recognized musical personality featured on Jamaican television.
Gisto’s evolution continued as he honed his craft as a versatile recording artist and toured with the Canadian jam band, Wasabi Collective. His contributions to the band earned him recognition on PBS’s RoadTrip Nation, a People’s Choice Award at the IMA’s, and a Recording of the Year honor from BCIMA.
In 2010, Wasabi Collective not only performed at the Whistler BC hosted Winter Olympics but also shared stages with acclaimed artists like K’NAAN, k-os, Bedouin Soundclash, and more. Gisto’s international journey continued as he ventured to Cape Coast, Ghana, to collaborate on his 2019 album release, ‘Self Made’.
Fast forward to 2020, Gisto dropped the 14-track studio album ‘Relief’, featuring legendary artists Capleton, Sizzla, Gyptian, and Mr. Fantastik. Now, with the support of FACTOR, Gisto proudly presents his latest studio album, ‘I’m Alive’, featuring collaborations with M3, Misha, and more.
